The transition process is a crucial stage in the academic life of students with disabilities. Parents and students both tend to experience many concerns, since it is a period in which student’s transit from the controlled environment of school to adult life and the possible hardships that accompanies it. As the students close this chapter of their life, certain services and supports that were provided in school continue to be necessary as they begin the new one. That is mainly why the effective transition of these students to adult life is the primary concern for both parents and the school districts. Initially, the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) was authorized. This body of laws focuses on providing all students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education ( FAPE) that place importance on special education and services that is developed to meet the students individual needs and prepare them for adulthood (IDEA, 2004). In order to comply with the demands of IDEA, it is fundamental to grasp the significance of the transition planning in the lives of both students and their families (Test, Aspel, Everson, 2006).
